Electric fuel pump location

Post by dave350v8 »

Hi there!
Nearly finished my capri chevy v8 conversion, Im just running fuel lines to engine, what is the best location for my electric fuel pump,in the boot or under bonnet, and do you think a range rover v8 external fuel pump will feed enough fuel for a small block chevy, cheers Dave

you need to work out if its a push pump if so mount it at the rear near the tank, or if a pull pump it can be mounted near the front,
also need to find out if it's a gravity fed pump,

if your going through all the work of fitting the chevy why not be safe and fit a holley red top or similar mate?

a push pump is usually like the holley and i think facet pumps, they are usually also a gravity feed pump which needs to be lower or near as low to the fuel line output to pump as they are designed to push the fuel up the pipe not suck it up,
efi pumps are push pumps,

ive got a facet silver top competition pump on my capri..

and its mounted in the engine bay....it wouldnt be powerful enough for a v8 though, its only rated upto 200bhp applications

more than enough for my 2.1 pinto though

Fuel pump again!!!

Post by dave350v8 »

Just realised my fuel tank that was made for my capri had fuel outlet pipe in the top,so I may still have to get a fuel pump that pulls, have found out that rangerover pumps are pullers, but will it keep up with chevy engine?

it should do....because itll be regulated down anyway...The trick is to select a pump a bit more powerfull than you actually need...

or ive seen 2 electric pumps wired in tandem for high displacement applications!!
