brake caliper lack of "play"

Post by jimbo »

New to the forum. I have a 2.0L mk2 ghia (1975) that with only 23000 miles and just 60 in the past ten years has failed its MOT on just one item despite not being on the road or tested for over 10 years!! The front brakes are binding.

I have two options refurb existing callipers or change them. How difficult a job is it to refurb and if I go down the route of changing are all the callipers the same as I've been given differing info.

Thanks for any advice.

Jamie

its just as easy to buy exchange calipers and let someone else do the work mate,

regarding changing them, for different ones? or the same type of calipers?
if its a change a common conversion is the caprisport granada caliper conversion, their newest brake setup is a brembo brake conversion, (its mental)
changing calipers to something different also depends on what wheel size you have too,

What calliper?

Post by jimbo »

Took the advice and phoned tickover for a price - they said one fitted all models as its an original fitment. Another brake specialist said there was 3 different callipers used and all were different. I'm tempted to go with Tickover but thought I'd better check before ordering.

Who's correct?

Thanks for the help

Jamie
