Coilover rear suspension?

I have a mk1 capri 3.0gt and am currently restoring the bare shell. I would very much like to convert the rear suspension to coilover units and can find very little information on this - hence my joining this forum.
Can the leaf springs and dampers be replaced with coilover units and is this a common or successful conversion. Do any of the large race companies offer conversion kits and the mounts, etc. Or is it simply a case of making the measurements and doing it yourself?
I would like to apply the same logic used in mk1 escort tuning to the capri, ie: 4/5 linked rear axle, etc. But unfortunately I am struggling to find a glossary of what the terms mean.
Any help would be greatfully received.
