2.9 Cos 24V V's Essex

Post by Caprigt »

Hi there,

I was wondering can I pick some brains if people don't mind....

I am in the process of building another Mk 1 Capri but with some fun / track action in mind....

I'm trying to decide what engine to drop in. I've got a 3.1 Essex with Stage 2 heads, Kent V62 Cam, Elec Ign & Holley 390 which is fun but I'm thinking of selling this for a 2.9 Cos 24V.

The guy who has the 2.9 Cos was told by the previous owner it is modded to close to 300 BHP, but he's not sure what is done to it. It's a BOA Engine complete with the loom and it comes with T5 Box and Conversion Kit & 2.8 Flywheel...

Is the T5 Box ok for a speed signal...

I was reading about re-mapping this engine....Anybody got experience of this on the 2.9 Lump...

Any Word of wisdom / Experience....

Essex V's Cos ??????

Thanks

300 is total bull crap if the original inlet system is still fitted.

225 is about the max with the original throttle body unless the air is forced in with a turbo or super charger.

Even so, it will still make the Essex look very clumsy indeed.

The T5 box is not the right thing but you should be able to sell it for enough
folding to get the MT 75 and have a few beers.

Have a look at the 24V register - if you're not to far away head over to
Caprisport and have a drive - don't be fooled by the deliberate tatty look
of the outside, it will put a smile on your face.
