Cosworth conversion questions!

Post by chiefcapri2.8 »

Hi guys,
After sitting on the fence for far too long i think i'm going to skip the 2.8 and install a cossy engine. I guess i've finally 'seen the light' like the rest of you!
I've contacted Caprisport who by all accounts are the masters of this conversion, but thought i might fire out a few more questions to the forum whilst i wait on their reply.
The later BOB engine only came with an auto box? Is the BOA MT75 a straight fit?
Is the clutch hydraulic? And if so how is this mated to the capri pedal box?
Do the BOA and BOB engines have a vacuum take off for the brake servo?
My starting point is a 2.8i Special. I gather that the engine cross-member and steering rack are maintained, but i will have to enlarge the hole in the tranmission tunnel and modify the prop length? I appreciate this is a very quick overview, but is installing the engine the 'easy' bit and then the wiring is the tricky part?

Any views/advice greatly appreciated!
Keith

Think you now know the answers to these questions but for anyone else reading this -

Both BOA & BOB only had auto boxes fitted. The specialy built MT75
fits both.

The clutch is cable and uses the 2.8 cable you have.

BOA has no servo take off but take a look at www.Caprisport.com 24V page
The egr pipe is modified to run the servo.

BOB has a sevo take off.

Yes the 2.8 rack and cross member are used.
The tunel hole is not modified - the gear shift remote is shortened to suit.

The prop shaft front section is modified to suit the box.

Thanks for your reply CSR!
Yes, i got the answers of Neil at Caprisport last week, spoke to him a couple of times on the phone and got some fantastic information and advice!
It's always good to have it in writting somewhere for future reference though!
Got the engine sorted, now just need the cash for a gearbox.
Regards,
Keith
