Correct me if i'm wrong but it looks like you're going to use drum brakes
and towing shocks with helper springs?

It's worrying that you don't understand but hey we're here to help.

The picture of your rear axle shows drums where the discs and calipers should be.

The rear shocks you have are towing shocks with helper springs.
Unless you're going to be towing a caravan - not a very good idea.

did spax make towing springs :?:iam working on a small budget and i want to get it rebuilt,running and painted first,brake up grades and other mods will get done when its finished :D who knows i might win the lottery :lol: :lol: :lol:

Right now you look like you have no idea what you're doing and you probably won't take any notice of what people tell you.

That might well be wrong but that's how it looks so no body is taking you seriously.

OK so let's start again -

Those shocks in the picture - what do you think they are?

The drums on your axle - brakes are the most important thing you need. Way further up the list than a pretty paint job.
Your first question should be - how do I get brakes that work for the least money spent?
Caprisport designed a system that uses cheap and easy to find bits so everyone can do it and most of them have.

And the huge spacer that's on the studs - tell me about that and the wheels you plan to use?

The Cosworth BOB engine - what other bits do you have to go with it?
You'll get lots of conflicting advice on this one but let me tell you, it's a huge can of worms - lots of pit falls
and everyone thinks they know what they are talking about but very few have actually done anything for real.

OK what else do you need to know?

Hello mate, looking good so far, keep it going. It's always good to have another Capri being restored. I'll try and explain a bit for you. The cosworth v6 is probably the best and easiest upgrade for the capri, however with increase in power over anything ford put in the capri some other parts need upgrading as well. Firstly the type 9 gearbox will soon decide not to play the game so you'll need to upgrade that. When Ford installed 200bhp plus engines in the sierra and granada/scorpio they also put on 15" wheels and that let them fit bigger discs and they also put discs on the rear. They also mounted the discs on the outside of the hubs which lets them dissipate heat into the wheel and not the hub and it's bearings. The suspension on a capri is at best adequate and the 2.8i is the best so you should try and get hold of that system. The single leafs at the back with a triangulation kit and a strut brace on the front and poly bushes at both ends. I would think this is a minimum for the power and performance upgrade you will be getting and not overly expensive. You can spend a lot on exotic set ups but the sensible upggrades can be done on a budget with second hand parts, watch ebay! The caprisport website is a valuable source of information and parts also tickover have specialist knowledge and some parts.

thanks for the info guys! the bob came out of a capri so i have a ready made loom.i was planning to use 16x8 escort cossie rims but i dont want to use spacers,what size of rims and tyres would you suggest i have fitted a set of 28i bilstein front struts with roller tops,ford sierra dohc radiator and twin fans,28i anti roll bar 28i crossmember and rack heres a couple of pics?any info would be great!!!!cheers.

Even the correct original X pack wheels don't fit.

You will need spacers which is not a problem if you do it properly.

The way to do it is to have them made so you retain the centre location
for the wheel.

Escort Cossy is the way to go - we used 225/40 Toyo Proxes T1-R's
We've never had a Capri with so much grip.

The hiatus on a carpi is at prizewinning adequate and the 2.8i is the exceeded so you should try and get sustain of that scheme. The lonesome leafs at the rearmost with a triangulation kit and a gait reinforcement on the fore and poly bushes at both ends.
