I'm rebuilding a mk3! Its an 83/4 2.8 shell, its got an 86 2.8 special engine gearbox and axle and most of what I'm putting on it when its done is mk1 or mk2
Anyway, Ive been gritblasting it today
It took a 2 tool road compressor to do that in a whole day

and I got through £10 of deisel, 2 pairs of goggles and about 20 dust masks
only 2/3 of the thing to do

gotta be done though

It worked ok on areas that realy need stripping but it has this characteristic of not being able to remove good sound underseal from sound, shiny metal. This is good realy, as I'm not trying to create more work than neeeded
I think I'll use ferrozinc and a coat of zinc/galv primer on the bare metal then reseal the floorpan with proper stoneguard - NEATLY

not like the git who did it last
Then...I can get to work on stripping the exsterior paint/s lol - I know theres factory paint job (caspian blue) a coat or red oxide, a respray of Crystal blue all to come off

but I will be doing that with paint stripper
pics coming...

Cheers mate - I could do with that as far the the awful damp weather were having here is concerned...need warm dry conditions for this kinda stuff

Ive got metal i can't paint for fear of trapping moisture in. If it don't dry out and warm up in a few days I will have to start running a dehumidifier in the garage I reckon.

how did you get on with your project? Did you finish it in the end?
