Post by IanD »

Ok,this is my Build from the old site......

Image

Image

Now with added Suspension,Headlamp Bowl and Front Valance.....

Image

Image

Image

Halfshafts Removed for the Fitting of Rear Disc Conversion....

Image

Rear Calipers Painted Ready...

Image

Bodywork Prepping

Image

For This...MK II X-Pack Arch

Image

Image

Image

Hmmm....Looks a bit Empty

Image

Add Some Steering...

Image

The Best Bit to Come...;)

Image

Image

And now With Bottom End in, Nice n Snug :) ........Now the Fun Begins !!! :D

Image

Engine Put in Provisonally so I can sort out lengths of hoses and stuff that is needed.

Hope you guys like the pics so far :) :D

Ok, here's a few more pics.....

Modded Halfshafts Fitted and Caliper mounting Brackets :)

Image

Rear Sierra Calipers Fitted and Peugeot 405 Discs

Image

Image

Intercooler fitted...

Image

Front Valance refitted.....Intercooler just fits nice n snug behind it :)

Image

Ok, slight update with more pics ! Done some work fitting a modified cross member for the gearbox....

Had to make up plates to weld on the original cross member to put new holes in it for the bolts to line up....

Image

Image

Slap a bit of paint on....

Image

Ta Da ! finished article, now the gearbox won't fall off, time to see about a slightly shorter and uprated Propshaft to take the 300 Bhp :D

Image

Also had to make the tunnel slightly bigger for the gearlever....

Image

Slapped a bit of paint on the Front Calipers too

Image

Head gasket Fitted with home made locating tool.....

Image

Oh, and this lil beauty going on tomorow :D

Image

Image

Hope you guys like the update

:D

Ok here's a nice little update, with a few pics.... Painted fuel tank
now fitted....
Image
Passenger door also now fitted....
Image
Bonnet fitted for lining up of the wings ( not the bonnet i'm using on
the final car)....
Image
And here's the main man himself who's doing most of the bodywork on the
car for me ( apart from fitting the X-Pack arches, thats my job cos he
hates fibreglass panels   ), the dog's danglies panel beater
... cheers Dan .....
Image
He's removed the sound deadening on the bulk head in the engine bay cos
A: It's horrid to paint and B: it'll look much nicer....
Image
Sadly, the quality of pattern wings is somewhat....naff sometimes to
say the least :? sorry Dan  and at £60 odd quid a pop for pattern
stuff , you'd think they'd be a better fit and yes I could get
my finger between the wing and the door edge, and nope you can't
get Genuine Ford MK III wings new for love nor money these days....
Image
The wing would fit great in one way, then too short in other areas, so
with a bit of jiggery pokery and cutting, Dan's sorted it ....
Image
And now the pics that i've been waiting to put on here for a while....
Ta Da !!
Image
Image
Now for my fav Pic ....
Image
Now don't that look much better with wings on :D :D Hope you guys like
the update and many many thanks for all your words of encouragement,
cheers guys

Ello peeps, righto, time for an update..... Nice load of pics for you guys to oggle over....

Here's a few of the engine in the engine bay before it was taken back out. It was initially fitted so I could get all the hoses, parts and holes drilled before the engine bay was sprayed.....

Before the cam belt was fitted ( and what a bit of a nightmare that was ! )

Image

Image

Image

Image

Now with Rad and Intercooler fitted....

Image

Here's the modified front hubs....

Image

Nice new set of wheel bearings for them....

Image

Ta Da ! Bearings fitted....

Image

And now the modified Hubs on the car, sadly no caliper fitting yet, as I was supplied the wrong fitting kit....

Image

Engine bay, Primed and ready for topcoat :D

Image

Image

Image

And now, are you ready ....

Image

Drum roll please....
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Ta Da !!!!!..... The Pics don't do Dan's spray work justice....

Image

Image

Image

Now's the daunting task of slowly and VERY carefully putting the bits in the engine bay as the paint, this time of the year is still soft and will take a while to go hard.

Hope you guys like the update, sorry it's been a while

;)

Ok folks time fer a little update....

Arch prepped for fitting of the arch liner....

Image

Arch liner cut and fitted....

Image

Image

Image

Had to weld in a bridging plate to meet the arch liner....

Image

Then skimmed over with chopped strand filler....

Image

Image

Then sanded down and refillered in places....

Image

Image

Image

Waiting for the last bit to dry off....

Image

Sadly the Brake Servo had some rust comming through again....

Image

So stripped down, rust treated and filler primered....

Image

And now repainted....

Image

Well, thats about it folks for now, still waiting for my brake parts to come through, so can't really do much with the enigne bay yet

Hope you guys like the update

Sorry there ain't much to it, but it's all time consuming stuff and I only get to work on her on Saturdays

Ok time fer an update....

Got the Master Cylinder come through for the Brakes :D ....

Image

Image

Now fitted in the Engine bay ....

Image

Image

Sierra Bias valve fitted to stop the rear discs locking up ....

Image

Image

New Brake pipes fitted ....

Image

Image

Image

Now if I catch the numpty who thought it was a great idea to paint the boot in Emulsion paint i'll do more than have a sturn word with them

Image

Image

Image

Took me the best part of 4 hours to get this crap off ....

Image

Had to paint the wheel well with some rust inhibitor to kill some mild rust off....

Image

Image

Image

And thats all i've done for now, got some different rear lights to sort out next and save up to have the gearbox rebuilt and a new shorter propshaft to be made

Thats looking great.

The only thing I would say is redo the brake pipes and try and keep the bends uniform and the lengths straight. I know its not easy to do but it will improve the finished look under the bonnet.

Hope you dont mind the comment, everthing else looking really good.

Don't mind the comment at all, I hate 'wonky' brake lines, i'm going to have another little go at straightening them up when I get to work on her again, but at the moment it's come to a bit of a halt, as last week I pulled a muscle in my chest, for the life of me I don't know how i've done it, wasn't doing any work on the car

Outstanding work mate. I admire your determination and patience to be able to pull this off! Wish I had the space and time to do it myself...and a spare car..lol.

Hehe thank you very much mate

Yeah, it's been a labour of love if you like, for years. That and a few other reasons i'm still building her, lol only taken 12 years so far
