GHOSTS IN MY 2.8I

Post by allfords »

Hi to all
I need some input as to why my 82 2.8i keeps stalling.
This is my first capri and hopefully it will be a nice looking car once finished.
It is in very standard spec including the rust but am working to resolve that.
It is running on leaded fuel and seems ok when started, but once warm
it will stop dead.
If you leave it for two or three minutes she will go like nothings happened.
I have changed the plugs leads and adjusted the valves, cleaned the dizzy
and changed the fuel filter.
i have power flushed the fuel tank and cleaned every fuel line.
The air filter is new and i have cleaned the metering unit.
but still continues to die.
could the fuel relay be the cause and has any owners experienced similar
symptoms.
Thanks to all who replys

Afraid, as its a 2.8

Random problems are a standard fit unless you are very very lucky.

Need more info m8, when it stops, does it splutter and die, or just sound perfect then stop?
Problem sounds fuel, I would suspect cold start valve not going off. (Just like leaving a choke on all the time)

Hi all

problem solved,by changing the fuel pump relay.

should have done it first of all but as usual missed out the realy obvious
and went around the houses, still least the cars had a good going over.
