megasquirt versions

Post by mfw898y »

Hi all. I am running a standard 2.0 pinto at the mo but have efi kit of Granada and the Ford EDIS coil packs etc. I'm a little lost on which megasquirt to choose as i want one that controls 3D ignition aswell. Will the "version 1" do this?

self build ecu like megasquirt, but it features fuel and ignition control and wide band control as standard.

Just had a look at your setup in more detail. Very impressive 8) Is there a website knocking these ecu's out or do i have to contact Richard Barrington that you mentioned? Tried to google it but no joy

It is a nice bit of kit i must admit, (not just saying that because i got one),
we are going to mapped ignition later this year,
so the ecu will then control the fuel, ignition and also the nitrous.

as far as I know, the Megasquirt II does spark aswell as fuel. Often referrred to as Megasquirt Extra I think... I'm seriously tempted to do this on mine as I already run mapped ignition.

I think you can get an add on bit for Megasquirt 1 to do spark... will have to check up on that one. The specs of megasquirt are quite impressive... wide band O2, nitrous control etc.

The vems looks to do it all but it seems a little more expensive than the megasquirt stuff. The vems system does say it all on the tin but I cant sum up the megasquirt stuff. Swings and roundabouts :?
The V8 is running on vems though

depends what you want from the ecu,
as in some applications the megasquirt maybe better and vice versa,

Give Rob a shout at rob@vems.co.uk tell him you spoke to me, and he will answer any questions you may have, if you don't get a reply drop me a mail and i will send you Richards mail address,
