Hi all, have recentley re-built a 3ltr essex & fitted it into my 2ltr laser. It was re-built with new shells, rings, valves & springs, oil & water pumps, all new gaskets & seals etc etc. Starts & runs a bit iffy at mo, needs setting up, but after running it for about a minuite there is alot of pressure in the cooling system as if the head gaskets are badly blown. Theres no water in the oil, no oil in the water, no exhaust fumes in the radiator. Any thoughts anyone???

What about gasget between heads and inlet manifold? Did you fit it in correct position? I remember, years ago, mine was not properly placed and also, one or two of copper "collars" or bracings around water passage holes had got loose and blocked water passages partially or totally. Then it got overheated or boiled very easily. Unscrewed the manifold and refitting the gasget was the fix in that case.
