Pinto - twin DGAV manifold.

Hi all,
I have just got hold of, what i beleive to be unique, manifold to fit 2 x 38dgas carbs to a pinto.

I intend to run this with 2 x 32/36 DGAV carbs (Standard pinto units). Does anyone know of ideas or problems associated with linking 2 of these carbs, i think the biggest problem is going to be the linkage, but i hope a little engineering will solve this.... :?

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Jon mentioned this to me -

Can remember years ago seing an Escort with something like this.

Kind of like the old "twin 40" type thing but with vertical carbs.

Think they were more common on the Fiat twin cams but someone made OHV-Cross-flow and pinto manifolds.
Would have been early to mid 80's

I remember seeing something similar on an Anglia in a very old classic ford magazine...cant remember if it was x-flow or pre x-flow!!!

But as of yet ive never seen one myself...i would be interested to know
what sort of power and what driveability was like compared to D.C.O.E"s!!

You are thinking of the Group 1 44 IDF setup which was on some RS2000's

no im thinking of twin D.G.A.V"s that i saw in a magazine years ago..
but the ones c.s.r explained sounds a bit like I.D.F"s...which were indeed
fitted as an x-pack extra on the RS2000...and i beleive some fiats!!

Hey capri turbo...i think i remember talking to you on the old forum about
the Bogg bros and bike carbs

Am still waiting for the manifold, but if you go to ebay and search this listing number you should be able to see it.

230148235469

I have asked loads of people about this manifold and no-one seems to have seen or heard of it before.

Could it possibly be a one off?

Knowing my luck it probably didnt work so it wasnt continued!!!!! :?

Yeah I know, I was referring as you say to the ones CSR was mentioning. I'm sure I have seen a twin DGAV/S manifold for the pinto before, but I can't for the life of me remember where. I have also seen a pinto manifold to take a 390CFM Holley which was absolutely rediculous.

Yes, it would have been me talking about Bogg Brothers as they are just up the road from me really... well, about 18 miles or so... I had the 2.1 setup there when the old man was running the old place on the North side of the village... I understand they are now on the south side and old man dave is semi retired.

Looking forward to seeing this manifold...

Ok folks,

The manifold has arrived!!!!

It has written on it - 2x DGAS or DFIS.

The following is stamped on the underside - GTW 100 025 - Does this mean anything to anyone?

Could some one just explain to me how to post pictures :? - Are there instructions somewhere on the forum?

Then i can post the pictures.

Cheers Guys

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You need to upload them to a sever (I use http://www/imageshack.us (Its pretty straight forward... Just browse for the photo thats saved to your computer, and select the size, etc you wish it to be (640x480 is usually sufficient for message boards)

Then when its uploaded you get a page come up that will have different types of links and html code and bb code...

You need the link thats furthest down (direct link to image)

then you must create a post...
to insert the image press the Img button above where you type in the post,
paste in the address and press Img again

(The IMG buton inserts the correct bb code to make the picture work)

Blimey they are small pics

it looks like quite a professional job!!!

I wonder if that writing means 25 out of a build of 100???

very interesting I would be interested to see it on a pinto with a pair of D.G.A.S!!

Yeah sorry bout the picture size.

Thats a thought about the 25 out of 100, wonder where the other 99 ended up?

It looks conpletely unused.

As soon as i get hold of a couple of 38 dgas carbs, it will get chucked on my project pinto for a trial.

Watch this space.
