New to the list, have just bought a nice 1.6 Laser for my Son (and me)
The headlights are poor, the reflectors are tarnishing/smokey looking.
Anyone have a good supplier of new units. enhanced performance over standard would be ideal but new replacements will do for the time being
Any pointers would be helpful. I have Googled this item and found no supplier
BTW I am pretty knowledgeable on tech matters so will hopefully add to the forum over time as I do with Volvo forums

Hi Richard,
I had the exact same problem on my 2.8 mate, frankly the standard units are shocking!
You could try replacing with some decent 2nd hand ones, doubt you'll find any new replacements! But to be honest this won't really help because they're pathetic. I even tried the original units with some xenon bulbs, and then with some 100W bulbs that i had lying around (which i think might be illegal now!) but the lights were still poor at best!
I've done a four lamp conversion now and the difference is amazing, it's like going from a torch to a floodlight! I bought everything new and it cost around 100quid for the lenses and bulbs, plus you'll have to do all the wiring modifications yourself it's not just 'plug and play'. But if you've got some tech knowledge and a free weekend, it's pretty straight forward.
The conversion can be done using the outer headlights from an old BMW E30 i think, some one might be able to correct me on that. But you'll need 4 of them so you'll have to search round for 2 crashed Beemers! Could be cheaper than buying new tho?
Hope this is useful,
Keith
