Hi guys,
Good looking axle, i'm hoping to do that myself!
I've got two spare axles here, one from a 1.6, one from a 2.0, is there a way to tell which one is the 3.44 2.0 axle without taking them apart? Any markings or anything?
Or if not is there anything stamped on the back face of the crown wheel so i can see it with the back cover off? Trying to avoid having to drop oil out of both just to count the teeth!!
Cheers,
Keith

There should be a tag under one of the cover bolts which might just be
readable if you're lucky.
If not here's how to tell.
hold one half shaft still and turn the other 2 complete revolutions.
The input shaft will turn the number or turns that relates to the ratio.
In the case of the 2 litre axle, it should turn just under 3 and a half revolutions.
On the 1.6, it should turn just over 3 and three quater revolutions.
Obviously, on a 2.8 / 3 litre axle, the input flange will turn just over 3 revolutions.

I was gonna leave the 2.8i ratio until the Cossie Capri was altogether, but after reading and much thought,i think i might get the LSD rebuilt and have a 3.44 ratio fitted while i'm at it,saves taking the bloody thing apart again LOL .
Just gotta get hold of a 3.44 crown wheel then the expensive cost of getting it rebuilt

the clutch started to complain about a weekago,
then saturday after leaving the MOT station gave it large up the road and cogged it into 3rd revs went up to 7k and car slowed down,
backed off selected 4th, pressed throttle and revs went up and car still got slower,
slowed down to a bout 2k on the revs and limped home, after a few miles all was ok again until i gave it large on the gear change then it started to slip a bit again,
i did go to the CF day at the Pod, but alas never got to run due to the sick cappa,
funds are low now and the clutch is near £400 from AP racing, so looks like she gona sit in me garage for a while,
