Making a 2WD MT75 gearbox

I'm in the middle of trying to get a mt75 gearbox for a 24v conversion ... I've read it is possible to combine the bellhousing from the 4x4 mt75 box and the rear end of the 2 litre version.

Does any one know if this can be done, and if so do they know of a company in the south wales area who could do a good job of it?

Not as yet, will give them a call later. Their website seems to suggest it isn't possible though... :(

As is the norm when people ask questions like this - you only have half of the story.

If you read and uderstand the information on the Caprisport web pages, it tells you why simply swapping the front case does not work.
The input shafts are not the same - as most people will be aware, the Cologne type boxes have a longer input shaft as the spigot bearing is deeper in the crank.

What you actually need to do is -

Use the 2.9 front case
use the input shaft and gears from the 2.9
use the rear case and main shaft from the DOHC box

You will need a number of special tools which are not readily available

As you have the boxes to exchange, you could get a fully re-built guaranteed box for £250

I checked with Neil - there are 3 std ratio boxes on the shelf and 2 with tall 5th.
