2.0 axle or no 2.0 axle that is the question

Post by Vera Soretoes »

Hi Just a silly question really, but how long will my 2.0 atlas axle last with 3.0 essex torque being pushed through it? I know if i do donuts everywhere it wont last 5 minutes, but im wondering whether i should Rebuild the 2.0 diff with the hub and bearings from 3.0 but keeping the nice 3.44 2.0 ratio (or is it the halfshafts that are the weaklink?) help appreciated :)

I need new tyres

the 2 litre axle is just as strong as the 3 litre one. The only difference between the 2 is simply the CWP gears and the brakes.

ive got a 2.1 pinto in my capri with a 1600 axle 3:75.1 ratio...

seems to cope well enough...acceleration is pretty fruity!!

and with twin 45 DCOE"s i can hit the red line in 5th, about 120ish mph on the speedo....but i am aware how innacurate capri speedos are
