Ok changed the temp sender on my 2.8i
but still can't get a reading from the temp guage!
have earthed the wires and the temp guage goes to the red(so i'm thinking that the guage is ok)
how can i test the sender unit?
tried putting the old one in boiling water but got no reading
any help would be greatfully appreciated

are you sure you got the correct sender?
they usually have a coloured plastic on the top of the sender,
think theres is white, blue etc,
ask CSR he maybe able to throw some light on this,

ok done an ohms test and the sender works ok
its got a black top (don't know if thats the right one )
was also thinking if it could be the electronic part behind the dash, as my fuel guage is going erratic at the moment,
have sent neil an email just haven't got reply as yet.

We've had problems with senders recently.

looks like there is some duff info out there.

When you look up a sender for a 2.8, it also fits some Sierras which is not correct.

We went for OHC in the end which worked ok.

Found the part numbers which are Intermotor.

52630 listed for 2.8 in some cataloges - it's wrong - has a spade not round terminal and resistance is too high
so will just touch the lower end of the scale if at all.

52750 listed for OHC and loads of other stuff - has the correct round pin and seems to work ok.
