Quick one on water pump.

Got a 3.0l thats been sat for a few years and the water pump had siezed. Managed to get it turning again by using a oil filter change chain wraped round it.
Got a problem now that its dripping water out a hole in the bottom of the casting.
Have the seals gone somewhere, can I just block the hole or will it need replacing ?
