The 2.8 rad is a pile of 5hite in all honesty. It's border line on ability to keep things cool. The 2.8 engine is not good but with a good rad it could be pass-able. Have a look at www.caprisport.com - 2.9 12V and 24V pages The Sierra rad and fans needs some tin work but cooling issues are a thing o...

The sump comment is about where the drop is. You need a rear drop sump for the Capri - I don't know if the engine you want to use is the same or front drop. Something else that comes to mind is the size of the gearbox. I got hold of the bomb proof Supra Turbo box with a view to using the Lexus 4 lit...

better engines for the Capri
The answer is dirretly related to what you have to spend. Forget the 2.8 it's just not worth wasting money on. The sensibe choice is the 2.9EFI Sierra / Granada engine With the knoledge available here you could do it for about £500 The next step is the 24V - you can do it on a budget but reliability...

There are a few points in the above post which are not entirely correct. If your finances dictate that you have to stick with the hopeless type 9, it must be from a 2.8 or a Sierra diesel - all other variations have the short input shaft which will not reach the bearing in the crank. The 2.8 flywhee...

You are asking some worying questions for someone launching into a 24V swap. Yes is the simple answer although spacers are available to make the existing calipers fit. You should be looking seriously at some brakes that will actually stop the car rather than a budget mod that will slow it down a bit...
