X-Pack Alloys
Best way is to offer up a template of the wheel and measure the offset yourself rather than picking the closest dimension someone else quotes for a similar sized wheel. I've got 7*17s on my Mk3 X-Pack and they fill the arches nicely but only with custom spacers - watch out on full lock that such a w...

Numberplates
Interesting discussion with my friendly MOT man recently as I'm about to put my 93 Range Rover through prior to sale (fantastic tow car if anyone is interested?). Apparently the rules on numberplates changed on 1 Oct this year and your MOT man will fail your car if the numberplates have any stickers...

Fitting non Capri Wheels
I'm uncertain of the offset of the Escort Cosworth alloys as to whether they are fwd or rwd offset. But the easiest way is to put your car on axles stands at running height and offer the wheel up - then stick a rule through the wheel and literally measure the distance. Thats obviously the size of sp...

My god, they aren't cheap are they! Glad I've been keeping my original Mk2 X-Pack and Tickford kits in the garage all these years!!!

Nothing!!! I give credit when credit is due. I've had the standard brakes are fine argument with capri owners all over the place. Unfortunatly some of them are just impressed with the size of the brake disc! Although I have to admit when I put the 17in wheel over the standard brakes it did all look ...

Removing the Heater Unit
Good luck! It is possible to remove it with the majority of the rest of the car intact! Best advice is to start under the bonnet with a 4in piece of garden hose. If you are quick you can (do this outside!) remove the heater hoses from the bulkhead and connect the heater pipes together. That way, if ...

My Zackspeed280 (2.8i with X-Pack and zackspeed front and rear spoilers) used to average 28mpg on long runs at 80+ when using it as an only commuting car. My 3.1 Essex Mk2 Ghia with a 5-speed conversion would run between 24-31mpg depending on how sideways I was. It was also my tow-car and when pulli...

I'm even luckier - when my 280 colapsed due to the dreaded rust it took me 3 years to find a replacement shell. And I managed to find a 280 shell that had been in store since it was about 3 years old and it didn't have a VIN stamp! Guess they started to forget to bother with the last few cars! Or mi...

Just be glad you are doing the passenger door as the bolts are accessible, whereas the drivers door upper bolts really need the dash taking out. It is possible without doing that by using a snake wrench and swearing a lot but much easier with the dash out! Align the line and I use cushioned welding ...

Yes, but be careful
With a bit of fiddling you can, but you will need to do it with the sunroof headlining removed. You can get access to all of the sunroof surround with a combination of having the sunroof up and down (carefully!) but your best bet may just be to remove the sunroof headlining- mark the mounting bolts ...

Brakes - GTR
I'd just like to add that I first started talking to CapriSport at their very first outing to a car show with their GTR 260 brakes on display. I've got the mondeo 280 kit on my 17in wheeled Zackspeed copy and they are fantastic. Other than working better than the original brakes (in their best condi...
