2 different types depending on year.

Later type are "Torx" (T55 if I remember correctly) and look like a 6 pointed star.

Early type and splined... I can't remember what size though.

Jon mentioned this to me - Can remember years ago seing an Escort with something like this. Kind of like the old "twin 40" type thing but with vertical carbs. Think they were more common on the Fiat twin cams but someone made OHV-Cross-flow and pinto manifolds. Would have been early to mid 80's Nei...

with standard drums, the 2.8i (22.2mm) will do. I'm using the Granada MK2 23.8mm one and it's fine. Pedal travel is about the same as a standard 2.8i system.

The 3 litre Essex engined Capri ceased production years before the introduction of the 5 speed box. However, with a little modification, the 2.8 injection's 5 speed "Type 9" will fit. The most obvious problem being that the "Type 9" was never designed for the Essex engine, therefore there is no obvi...

yeah... I know that it replaces the points... but you say it's for a 2.8i... they don't have points... only the 4 pots and the 3 litres had the conventional contact breaker ignition system. The 2.8i has "hall effect" (magnetic triggered) electronic ignition (Fords "Duraspark" system) as standard. If...

I don't get it... the 2.8i has "hall effect" electronic ignition as standard (the aluminium "Duraspark" unit on the passengers side inner wing at the back), so why are you looking at Aldon kits?

I have Superflex fitted to my TCA's inner and outer on the 2.1 and they've only lasted 5000 miles... going back to rubber ones as I know too many people who are having / have had problems with poly TCA inner bushes.

if it's for a pinto, then the cheapest way to electronic ignition is to rob out an old Sierra... you want the one with the vacuum capsule on the dizzy and you need to take the dizzy, Motorcraft box on inner wing, coil and wiring. £20 to £30 from a breakers.

the "turbotail" was originally used on the German 2.8 Turbo's and was available from the RS catalogue IIRC. Originals (rubber ones) are embossed with type approval numbers and "Motorsport". I think they were also part of the "RS" kit that covered the wheel arch lips and ccame half way up the doors. ...
