The oil pump in a capri is a gear pump. Basically as it rotates it squeezes the oil between the gears and produces pressure. So.... your pump is probably goosed, or on the way out. Easy job to replace...

Best advice i can give you first is...... once you get it ticking over. Get a good pair of insulated pliers and pull the HT lead off each plug in turn. As soon as you remove a plug you should hear and possibly see the difference. This will tell you if you are infact not running on all cylinders. Che...

Nice 1....... PS So as not to confuse others, smoke at start up is normally caused by oil passing the valve stems and entering the cylinders. Once you start up, this oil gets burnt and fired out the exhaust. Hence the smoke.
Worn rings is a different thing. Cheers again

Hi again Best thing is always to do a compression test first m8, It all depends on how bad things are before you notice a difference. I take it you aint smokin from exhaust too bad? If not then doesn't sound as if you have a serious problem. No point in stripping engine if its not bad. It costs a fe...

Hi m8 Yes piston rings or worn cyliders can cause this. Your sump vents through your "crankase valve" and rocker cover. The white deposit you see is oil and water sludge casued by the gasses etc. Typical tell tale when buying a car of worn rings. Can run trouble free for some time so not a desperate...

There is definately NO filter inside a 2.8i tank. What there is is a spring return valve for the return line.
Do not waste your time.
Your problem is at the top end of your system.
Send me your email address and I will send you a comprehensive doc on the fuekl system and fault finding.

Need more info m8, when it stops, does it splutter and die, or just sound perfect then stop?
Problem sounds fuel, I would suspect cold start valve not going off. (Just like leaving a choke on all the time)

To remove the drivers door you need to remove the full dash to gain access to the top mounts of the door. (3 nuts)
So lots of dismantling.........

If the worm screw (Cord in bird talk ) :D has come out then its because the pin at the end of the worm screw has sheared off. If you remove the sunshades, mirror, hand rails, door rubbers and "A" piller trims you will be able to peel back the headlining carefully to gain access to the mechanism. The...
