thanks for your reply, iv come to the conclusion that the head must be warped, i tried to get away without a skim but its gonna need one i think! Strange how its hardly uses any oil or water but then i didnt run it for very long, no smoke at certain revs surprised me too! Ill get a skim and try agai...

iv just replaced my head gasket after the frost got to it, runs like a dream but puts out lots of white smoke. Its not using water or oil and iv run it for long enough to burn off any residue i think (bout 45 mins). Hardly any smoke at a constant 2500 rpm but returns at tick over and full throttle! ...

pinto upgrade
As previously mentioned, a pinto swap is an utter piece of piss and definately a cheaper option. Nice torquey motors, i wouldnt consider anything else unless u have a a few quid to throw about. Not as good on fuel tho... Did u mean a vauxhall red top or zetec? Both good but harder to fit...
