Could be that the fan isn't working?? Put 12v across it to make sure it actually spins (and in the right direction too!). Also, how have you got the fan set up to come on? If it's on a thermostat it could be that it's set too high and so isn't kicking in at the right temp? The usual thing is to set ...

I had a 2.8 until recently and never had any problems with it at all, thought it was a cracking engine and great fun! So i stick with it until you know 100% that it's a serious/fatal problem! 1 tip you might try is they were a bugger for air locks in the cooling system, get a funnel and some hose pi...

I hate to say this but, unless you're 1) made of money, and 2) lucky enough to find one, then a genuine wing is pretty much a pipe dream! Yes of course genuine is going to fit better, but some of the pattern stuff is not that bad. I've replaced around 5 or 6 wings on the capris i've owned over the y...

Thanks csr,
Unfortunately it looks like the 2.0 axle is a 3.09, must have been from a 5-speed. Bugger :(

Hi guys, Good looking axle, i'm hoping to do that myself! I've got two spare axles here, one from a 1.6, one from a 2.0, is there a way to tell which one is the 3.44 2.0 axle without taking them apart? Any markings or anything? Or if not is there anything stamped on the back face of the crown wheel ...

Hi danlaser, I've taken the mouldings off on my car mate but unfortunately i don't have any pics of it! The most important things is NOT just to fill the holes! The holes need welding up! Then skimming over with fine filler, sanding, priming, wet flatting and then spraying, etc, etc. If you think ab...

Hi Tony, Yeah i can see how that could be a problem!! I had a really good chat with Neil at Caprisport the other night and he was talking about your brake set up, i think he use the phrase "f###ing awesome" more than once! I'm on the hunt now for some fiat calipers, got some granada calipers cheap a...

Cosworth conversion questions!

Hi guys, After sitting on the fence for far too long i think i'm going to skip the 2.8 and install a cossy engine. I guess i've finally 'seen the light' like the rest of you! I've contacted Caprisport who by all accounts are the masters of this conversion, but thought i might fire out a few more que...

Hi csr, Many thanks for the reply again. Thank you for your concern over my engine, i have to admit i've read a lot of the threads concerning the 2.8 and have never really understood everybody's problem with it. Mine goes like a train and scares the pants off me, like you say perhaps i have one of t...

Hi csr, Thanks for your reply, i'm slightly annoyed at the moment because i feel i might have been 'sold a kipper' as far as these brakes are concerned. I bought them from RallyDesign, whom i thought would have been a reputable company, the 'technical expert' on the phone seemed to know what he was ...

Servo problem/upgrade?

Hi guys, I'm looking for some thoughts/advice on a brake issue with my 2.8i. Problem is the brakes seem below par to me and i'm feeling that there might be a problem with the servo, either knackered or not getting enough vacuum. I'm running standard 9" rear drums, and 4pot wilwood calipers at the fr...

Hi Wilma, unfortunately as demo2 says spraying over the rust is only really a temporary fix, you really need to remove it to cure it. However, being a former paint sprayer i might be able to give you this advice. You'll never get the right match out of a can, aerosol spray is 'cellulose' based where...

You can't tell from the outside as far as i know mate but there is a simple check. Jack the back of the car up, so both wheels are off the ground and free to rotate. Spin one of the wheels with your hands, keep an eye on the other side wheel. If both wheels spin the same way it's an lsd, if they tur...
